Home What "Traffic" means
The "traffic" indicates what trains and operations are suitable for running on a given track plan. There are three traffic options.
Passenger. This shows that the track plan is suitable for passenger traffic on it. The plan should have at least one train station with one or more platforms. The type of the passenger coaches (i.e. short or long) depends of the layout's epoch/era.
Freight. This shows that the track plan is suitable for freight traffic on it. The plan may have a train station and one yard or industrial branch where the cargo traffic will start and stop. The type of the cargo coaches (i.e. 2-axle, 4-axle, etc.) depends of the layout's epoch/era.
Shunting/Switching. This shows that the track plan have train station, yard, industrial area or other facilities (i.e. depot and/or turntable) that are suitable for shunting/switching operations.
