Model Train Layouts & Track Plans
Home Lionel 5x10 O-gauge Fastrack Layout
Interesting O-gauge layout with Lionel Fastracks, featuring two independent lines on two levels. The track plan allows simultaneous running of two trains and has many playing and shunting/switching options.

Here is how SeattleSUP describes his layout (with some editions and abbreviations):
Since getting into this hobby I've learned a lot and had many, ahem, learning moments. From my original layout I ditched the elevated reversing loop and dropped the elevated track (that is the track, leading to the reverese loop with the green-colored curves below - ed.):
I then made a second reverse loop and connected it to the first reverse loop to create a second independent track (on the upper level - ed.). It's been fun but there have been an issue. The first I discovered when I bought my first big locomotive - a MTH SD45 - is that it's several inches longer than my other locomotives and I discovered a host of clearance problems the hard way! Also the second elevated loop is too short (so only short trains can pass over the small reverse loops on the upper level - ed.).
See more about the designing of this layout in SeattleSUP’s thread 5'x10' FasTrack layout complete (for now!) on OGR forum.
