Model Train Layouts & Track Plans

Home The Attic Layout of Jonathon in OO Scale

Nice around-the-walls attic layout in OO gauge, featuring double two-way main line with several industrial branches and yards. The track plan is suitable for continuous running of up to two trains on the main line as well as for many shunting/switching operations in the branches.

Description

Here is what Jonathon says about his layout project:

"This 3.4m x 5.6m attic OO gauge layout features a double two-way main line loop that passes through a small English "market" town with a goods yard and canal wharf, before winding through remote hill country. A branch line loops up into the hills to serve a mountain village. The main line then crosses an estuary and passes through an industrial hinterland featuring a harbour scene, a fiddle yard and locomotive sheds with fueling station. After then passing through a rural farm scene, the main line returns to town. The layout has a good balance between main line for running long trains and lots of small shunting potential."

Note: The track plan contains some very tight curves, created with over-bended flex tracks (i.e. in the siding to the dock yard at the lower left corner of the layout). Only small 2-axle shunters or tank engines with short freight cars will be suitable to pass over these curves without derailing.
